E-tickets or electronic tickets have begun to be implemented in several areas as an effort to modernize traffic law enforcement. With e-ticketing, the ticketing process becomes more transparent and efficient, and is expected to reduce the number of traffic violations. This system allows drivers to be more disciplined and obey the rules on the road. This article will introduce you to e-tickets, the types of violations and range of fines, as well as several procedures for paying e-tickets. Come on, keep watching!

What is e-Tilang?

E-ticketing is an electronic-based ticketing system that uses technology such as surveillance cameras and sensors to detect traffic violations automatically. When a violation is detected, vehicle and violation data will be recorded and sent to the police database. The vehicle owner will receive a ticket notification stating the type of violation, location and amount of fine to be paid. This system is designed to minimize direct interaction between officers and customers, thereby reducing the potential for abuse of authority.

There are two types of electronic ticketing systems used, namely static e-ticket and mobile e-ticket. The static e-ticket system utilizes surveillance cameras installed at various points and managed by officers at the National Police's Traffic Management Center to record traffic violations. Meanwhile, the mobile electronic ticketing system is a method of taking action against violations that uses surveillance cameras installed in police vehicles or via smartphones. This action can only be carried out by police officers who have been given a letter of assignment to use their smartphone cameras and registered with the official IMEI number. E-ticket system mobile used to take action against motorists who do not wear helmets, violate traffic, park carelessly, and other traffic violations that are not covered by the static electronic ticketing system. Surveillance cameras can record the driver's face, vehicle registration number, and the complete physical condition of the vehicle.

Location of e-Tilang

The e-Tilang system, as part of modernization efforts in traffic law enforcement, has now been implemented in various large cities throughout Indonesia. Starting from the capital Jakarta to other important cities such as Surabaya, Bandung, and Medan, e-Tilang has become an important tool in supporting traffic security and order on the highway. The implementation of this system is generally carried out in areas with high traffic volumes, where the potential for traffic violations is also greater. Some of the locations most often chosen for installing surveillance cameras are main intersections, main roads, and densely populated areas that often experience heavy traffic.

The installation of surveillance cameras in the e-Tilang system is carried out carefully at strategic points, where traffic violations often occur. These cameras are equipped with advanced technology that is able to record in detail every passing vehicle, including number plates, type of violation, and even weather conditions when the violation occurred. With the existence of e-Tilang in various big cities, it is hoped that drivers will be more disciplined in traffic, reduce violations, and ultimately reduce the number of accidents. This system not only functions as a law enforcement tool, but also as a driver of behavior change for motorists on the road.
